Cultural Food: Gâteau Basque (Basque Cake)

The French love this cake-there is even a museum dedicated to it… so here’s some pictures. Jussst so you know- the recipe at the bottom is similar to the one we used and is linked to someone else’s page. I’m just putting up some pretty pictures of our experience making it. 🙂

Insider tip: Ferme Basque adds frozen blueberries to the creme in the middle, which I think makes it even better.

YUM!

I’m not going to attempt to convert everything from grams to cups. We also made 5 basque cakes so fifth-ing it to get the correct amount isn’t going to happen. So.. I looked through a bunch of websites and found a recipe. It’s similar enough to how we made it. 😉 Just add small frozen blueberries in between layers of creme before you put it in the oven!

HERE is the recipe.

Let me know if you try it and what you think!
